ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a treatment for older adults with chronic lymphedema, which is a condition that causes swelling in the legs and can lead to complications like infections and slow-healing wounds. The trial is specifically looking at a technique called the osteopathic pedal pump, which uses a gentle pumping motion to help move fluid from the legs back into the bloodstream, rather than applying pressure like traditional treatments. Participants will be divided into two groups: one will receive the pedal pump treatment, while the other will get a light touch treatment for comparison.

To be eligible for this study, participants need to be at least 55 years old and have lymphedema in their lower legs. However, people with certain medical conditions, such as active infections, recent fractures, or severe lung issues, will not be able to participate. The trial is currently recruiting participants, and those who join can expect to receive one session of treatment while their leg volume is measured to see if there is any improvement. This research aims to provide more information about the pedal pump's effectiveness in treating lymphedema in older adults.
