ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how drinking green tea might affect patients with primary glaucoma, a condition that can damage the optic nerve and lead to vision loss. Researchers want to find out if drinking green tea has any impact on two key factors: the pressure inside the eye (known as intraocular pressure or IOP) and the thickness of the nerve fibers in the retina, which is the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. The study will compare patients who drink green tea to those who do not over a period of 1, 3, and 6 months.

To participate in this trial, you need to be diagnosed with primary glaucoma and have been keeping your eye pressure under control with medication for at least six months. It’s important that you have never consumed green tea regularly before. Researchers are looking for participants aged between 65 and 74 years, but younger patients may also be eligible. During the trial, you will be asked to drink green tea daily and attend follow-up appointments to monitor your eye health. Remember, if you have certain eye conditions or are allergic to green tea, you may not qualify for this study. This is a great opportunity to help researchers understand more about the potential benefits of green tea for glaucoma patients!
