ClinConnect Summary

The "Teachers Leading the Front Lines - Adolescent" clinical trial is exploring a new way to support the mental health of teenagers in rural schools. The goal is to see if teachers can effectively provide mental health care to students who are struggling with issues like anxiety, depression, and emotional problems. The trial will involve 60 low-cost private secondary schools in the Darjeeling region, with teachers and principals participating alongside selected students aged 13 to 17 who have been identified as needing help.

To be eligible for the study, schools must be in the specified area and serve families who earn less than $10 a day. Teachers and principals must be at least 18 years old and not have any history of child maltreatment. Students need to be enrolled in the participating schools and show signs of emotional difficulties based on specific assessments. Participants can expect to be part of a program that aims to improve their mental health through teacher-led support, with a focus on measuring how well this approach works and how sustainable it is for the future.
