ClinConnect Summary
The Community Stroke Self-management Program is a research project aimed at helping African American stroke survivors in rural Alabama better manage their health after a stroke. The goal is to create a program that meets the specific needs and preferences of these individuals, focusing on important areas like taking medications, following a healthy diet, staying active, and dealing with emotional challenges. Researchers will gather information about what these survivors need and what barriers they face in managing their health, and then develop a tailored support program based on this information.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 50 years old, have a history of stroke, and also have high blood pressure. Unfortunately, those with low cognitive abilities cannot take part in the trial. Participants can expect to be involved in discussions about their health needs and to receive support tailored to help them manage their recovery and improve their quality of life. This study is currently recruiting, and everyone is welcome to apply, regardless of gender.
