ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is investigating how effective two different medications are for treating moderate to severe acne vulgaris, a common skin condition. The researchers want to see if metformin, a medication usually used for diabetes, works better than doxycycline, an antibiotic often prescribed for acne. Participants will be divided into two groups: one group will take doxycycline along with a topical (applied to the skin) treatment, while the other group will take metformin with a similar topical treatment. The goal is to compare how well each treatment helps improve acne.

To join the trial, participants must be adults aged 18 or older who have recently been diagnosed with moderate to severe acne by a dermatologist. However, people who have used certain acne medications recently, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have taken steroids, or have specific health conditions will not be eligible. Those who join can expect regular check-ins to monitor their progress and help researchers understand which treatment works better. This study is currently recruiting participants, and anyone interested can speak with their healthcare provider for more information.
