ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help repair Achilles tendon injuries, specifically for people who have a tear in their Achilles tendon and also have a condition called tendinopathy, which makes the tendon weaker or more prone to injury. Researchers will be studying the use of a special patch made from bovine (cow) collagen to see if it helps improve the healing process. The trial is in its early stages and is not yet recruiting participants.

To be eligible for this study, individuals must be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have a confirmed ultrasound showing tendinopathy before surgery. However, people who have had any lower leg surgery in the past three months, have certain health conditions that could affect their ability to participate, are allergic to bovine products, or are pregnant cannot take part. Participants in the trial can expect to receive care that includes the use of this collagen patch during their tendon repair, and they will follow a rehabilitation plan to help them recover. This study aims to find out if the patch makes a difference in healing and recovery for those with these specific tendon issues.
