Deep Dentin Caries Calcium Silicate Calcium Hydroxide Selective Caries Removal Randomized Clinical Trial

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effectiveness of a special material called calcium silicate cement for treating deep cavities in teeth, specifically for adults aged 18 to 45. Participants will have at least one deep cavity, which means the decay has reached the dentin layer of the tooth. To be eligible, individuals must not have any severe pain in the affected teeth, and the decay should not have reached the tooth's pulp (the innermost part), ensuring that the tooth is still restorable.

During the trial, participants will receive treatment at Hacettepe University’s Restorative Dentistry Clinic. The procedure involves removing decayed tooth material and applying either calcium silicate or a different material called calcium hydroxide, followed by sealing the tooth. Participants will have follow-up evaluations at 6, 12, and 18 months to check how well the treatment worked. This study is important because it may help improve tooth restoration techniques, benefiting many patients with similar dental issues.
