ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two methods of pain relief after total hip replacement surgery, which can be very painful. The trial compares a newer technique called the PENG block, which uses ultrasound to target specific nerves for pain relief, to a more traditional method called surgical infiltration, where pain medication is injected into the surgical area. The goal is to see which method provides better pain control while reducing the need for stronger pain medications, which can have significant side effects, especially in older patients.

To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult who is scheduled for posterior total hip replacement surgery at Reims University Hospital and willing to sign a consent form. Some people, such as those with certain allergies or health conditions, may not be eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive one of the two pain relief methods before your surgery and will be monitored to see how well it works for managing pain. This study is important because it aims to improve pain management strategies for hip surgery, helping patients recover more comfortably and quickly.
