ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how certain harmful bacteria in the intestines and mouth of patients change during their hospital stay, especially for those who are very ill or have weakened immune systems. The researchers want to understand if these changes in bacteria can increase the chances of getting infections caused by drug-resistant germs. Participants in this study will provide stool samples, blood samples, and oral swabs during their hospital stay to help with this research.
To be eligible for the study, participants need to be adults aged 18 and older who have been admitted to an intensive care unit or a stem cell transplant unit within the last 24 hours. Unfortunately, those who are pregnant or have specific gastrointestinal issues, like inflammatory bowel disease, cannot take part. If you join the study, you'll help scientists learn more about how to prevent infections in vulnerable patients, and you'll be contributing to important medical research.
