ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Fluid Administration and Fluid Accumulation in the Intensive Care Unit," aims to understand how fluids are given to patients when they first arrive at the intensive care unit (ICU). The study will look at how much fluid is administered, how it affects patients, and what factors might contribute to fluid buildup or overload in critically ill adults. This research is important because it will help doctors learn more about managing fluid in patients who are very sick, which can improve their care and outcomes.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have been admitted to the ICU during the first 14 days of the study period. Unfortunately, patients who have already taken part in a previous similar study or those with major burns covering more than 10% of their body will not be eligible. If someone joins the trial, they will help researchers gather valuable information that could benefit future patients in the ICU.
