ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on understanding the health of people living in Greenland who have type 2 diabetes and severe obesity. Researchers want to learn more about how different genetic factors might affect the risk of developing serious complications from diabetes, like eye and nerve damage. They are also exploring whether personalized medicine—tailoring treatments to individual needs—can be effectively used in Greenland and if it can improve health outcomes. Additionally, the study aims to find out how common sleep apnea (a condition that affects breathing during sleep) is among individuals at high risk and whether a simple method can be created to identify and treat this condition.
To participate in the trial, you need to be over 18 years old and have type 2 diabetes or morbid obesity (a body mass index greater than 40). Participants will complete questionnaires about their quality of life and sleepiness, undergo various health examinations, and provide blood samples for genetic testing. This trial is currently recruiting participants of all genders, and it’s important that potential participants can speak English, Danish, or Greenlandic. If you meet the eligibility criteria, this study offers a chance to contribute to important research that could help improve health care in Greenland.
