ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how patients with acute left colon diverticulitis (ALCD) are treated in different hospital settings. Specifically, it compares the outcomes for patients receiving non-operative management (NOM) in surgical wards versus medical wards. The goal is to see if there's a difference in recovery, how long patients stay in the hospital, and their follow-up care.
To participate in this trial, you should be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have been diagnosed with ALCD through a special CT scan that shows the condition. However, if you need immediate surgery or have severe complications, you won't be eligible for this study. If you join, you'll be monitored closely to see how well the non-surgical treatment works for you in either hospital setting. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it's an important step in understanding the best ways to manage ALCD without surgery.
