ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called Image Enhanced Endoscopy IBD, is looking at new technologies for monitoring patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Currently, a method called dye-spray chromoendoscopy is the gold standard for checking for changes in the colon that could indicate a risk of cancer. However, recent guidelines suggest that newer methods, like virtual chromoendoscopy, could also be effective. The trial will compare these newer techniques, known as TXI and LCI, to see if they can make the process faster and easier, possibly eliminating the need for the dye-spray method in the future.
To participate in this study, you need to be between 18 and 75 years old and have IBD that meets certain Australian guidelines for regular check-ups. However, if you have any active disease, haven’t prepared your bowel properly for the procedure, have had surgery on your colon, or have a history of bowel cancer, you won't be eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to undergo a colonoscopy where these new imaging technologies will be used to see how well they work compared to the standard method. This could be an important step in improving care for IBD patients.
