ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on improving the way infantile spasms, a serious type of epilepsy in young children, are diagnosed. Infantile spasms involve quick, repeated muscle contractions that can be hard to recognize, often leading to delays in treatment, which can affect a child’s development. The researchers are developing a system that uses video from smartphones or webcams to automatically identify these spasms. Their goal is to create a tool that can accurately detect spasms with high reliability, helping doctors and families quickly get the necessary care for affected children.
To be eligible for this study, participants must have had a video EEG recording that shows spasms and be connected to social security, with authorization from a legal guardian. The trial is currently recruiting participants from all genders and ages up to 3 years old. Families involved can expect to contribute to an important project that aims to make diagnosing infantile spasms easier and faster, potentially benefiting many children in the future.
