ClinConnect Summary
The MONAS Study is a research trial aimed at improving the health outcomes for both mothers and their babies during pregnancy. The study focuses on whether providing extra nutrition and comprehensive monitoring can lead to better results compared to the usual healthcare services. Specifically, it looks at issues like preventing complications during pregnancy and delivery (like preterm labor and infections) and improving the health of newborns (by reducing problems like low birth weight and asphyxia).
To participate, women must be in their first trimester of pregnancy, living in the Jakarta area, and agree to join the study. Those in the study will receive more detailed health check-ups, including ultrasounds and lab tests to assess their nutrition, along with supplements like vitamins and minerals. This is in addition to the standard healthcare that all pregnant women receive. On the other hand, women in the control group will only receive the standard care. If you or someone you know is pregnant and interested in this study, it could provide valuable support during this important time.
