ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating how effective two pain medications, tapentadol and tramadol, are for patients who are undergoing total knee replacement surgery. The study aims to see which of these medications provides better pain relief after the surgery. It is currently looking for participants aged 65 to 74 years who are having this elective surgery and are in good to moderate health, as indicated by their American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status classification.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should not have any significant cognitive issues, severe mental health conditions, or allergies to the medications being studied. They also need to be able to communicate in Greek. Those with certain health problems, such as kidney or liver failure, or who are pregnant, cannot participate. If you join the study, you will receive one of the two medications after your knee surgery and will be monitored for pain relief and any side effects. Your participation could help improve pain management strategies for future knee replacement patients!
