ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Improving Intrapartum Care for Saving Life at Birth in Ethiopia Through PartoMa Approach" aims to enhance the care provided to women during labor in two hospitals in Eastern Ethiopia. The study will introduce a new approach called PartoMa, which includes creating local guidelines for care, continuous training for healthcare providers, and using a special device to monitor the baby's heartbeat. The goal is to improve the health outcomes for mothers and their babies by making better decisions during childbirth and reducing issues like stillbirth and maternal deaths.
Women who are in labor at the participating hospitals from February 2023 to March 2025 may be eligible to join the study. If they participate, they will receive the care outlined in the new guidelines and will be followed until they leave the hospital. Healthcare providers will also be involved in the training sessions to learn and apply the new practices. This trial is important because it hopes to create a safer environment for childbirth, ultimately leading to fewer complications and better health for both mothers and their newborns.
