ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Optimizing Surgical Decisions in Young Adults With Breast Cancer," aims to help young women who have just been diagnosed with breast cancer make better decisions about their surgery. The study is focused on women aged 18 to 44 who are facing early stages of breast cancer (Stages 0 to 3). Researchers will use a special online tool called CONSYDER, which provides important information and helps improve communication between patients and their surgeons. The goal is to ensure that these patients feel supported and informed when choosing their surgical options.
Participants in the trial can expect to fill out surveys shortly after their first meeting with a surgeon and again six months after their surgery. For those who are undergoing chemotherapy before surgery, there will be an additional survey after their treatment. Some participants may also be invited for a follow-up interview, and a few consultations will be recorded to assess how well the communication works. This study is currently recruiting participants who speak either English or Spanish and meet the eligibility criteria.
