ClinConnect Summary
The HIP-STITCH trial is studying how different stitching techniques affect wound healing after hip replacement surgery. Researchers will compare four types of sutures—Monocryl, Vicryl Rapide with Indermil skin glue, Dermabond Prineo, and Stryker Zip—to see which one leads to the best recovery of the surgical wound within the first two weeks after the operation. Participants will take photos of their bandage at home three days and eleven days after surgery, and a research team member will take photos of the wound during follow-up visits at seven and fourteen days.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 18 years old and scheduled for total hip arthroplasty (hip replacement) surgery at the RHOC in Zoetermeer. They should not have had any previous surgeries on the same hip and must be able to communicate in Dutch to give informed consent. Participants can expect to be part of an important study that aims to improve recovery outcomes for future patients undergoing hip replacement surgery.
