ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of ultrasound scans (US) to help diagnose and understand gynecologic cancers, particularly when these cancers return after treatment. While previous research has shown that ultrasound can be effective for conditions like endometrial, cervical, and ovarian cancer, there is limited information on its use for cancers that come back, especially those affecting the sides of the pelvis. The trial aims to explore whether ultrasound can be a helpful tool in these cases, where MRI scans are currently the standard.
To participate in this trial, women who have been diagnosed with recurrent or persistent gynecologic cancer and are scheduled for specific surgical procedures, such as pelvic exenteration or laterally extended pelvic resection, may be eligible. These procedures involve removing cancer from the pelvis and, in some cases, may require creating a stoma (an opening for waste) depending on the extent of the surgery. Participants will have the chance to contribute to important research that could improve future cancer care, and they will be closely monitored throughout the process.
