ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different ways to manage pain for patients undergoing hip replacement surgery. One method is called a continuous erector spinae plane block (ESPB), and the other is a continuous epidural analgesia. The goal is to see which method helps patients feel less pain after surgery, allows them to recover better, and improves their ability to walk and regain muscle strength. The study will also check how much pain patients feel months after leaving the hospital.
To participate in this trial, you need to be having a hip replacement surgery due to coxarthrosis, and you must be able to use a patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pump, which lets you manage your own pain medication. You should also have access to a phone for follow-up. However, if you are taking certain pain medications for other conditions, have active cancer, dementia, or other significant mental health issues, you may not be eligible. If you decide to join, you can expect to be closely monitored for your pain levels and recovery progress, helping to find the best pain management option for future patients.
