ClinConnect Summary
The Gynecological Cancer Associated Thrombosis (GynCAT) Study is a research project designed to better understand the risk of blood clots in women who have certain types of gynecologic cancers, such as ovarian, cervical, or endometrial cancer. The goal of the study is to create a tool that can help doctors assess who is more likely to develop a condition called Venous Thromboembolism (VTE), which is when blood clots form in the veins and can cause serious health issues. This study is currently looking for female patients who are 18 years or older, have been diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer, and are planning to start a new treatment.
If you choose to participate, you will be part of a group of patients being monitored for the development of VTE during your cancer treatment. Participants will help researchers gather important information that could lead to improved screening and prevention strategies for blood clots in women with these cancers. However, please note that pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those already receiving blood-thinning medications or diagnosed with VTE at the start of the study, cannot participate. Your involvement could contribute to making cancer treatment safer for future patients.
