ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how to help individuals who have both post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and suicidal thoughts or behaviors. The researchers want to find out if a combination of two treatment methods—Prolonged Exposure therapy (which helps people face and process their traumatic memories) and a Crisis Response Plan (which provides strategies for managing crises)—is more effective than using Prolonged Exposure therapy alone. The goal is to reduce suicidal thoughts and attempts in people who are seeking help for their PTSD.
To participate in this study, you need to be between 65 and 74 years old and have a diagnosis of PTSD or similar symptoms. You should be able to speak and understand English and give your consent to participate. However, if you have a substance use disorder that needs medical treatment, are at immediate risk of suicide, or have serious issues that affect your ability to understand the study, you won’t be eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive support through these therapies and contribute to important research that could help others in similar situations.
