ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how almond oil and extra virgin olive oil can help keep the skin of newborns healthy while they are in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The researchers want to see if these natural oils can improve skin integrity, which is important for the overall health of babies, especially those who are premature or have other health challenges.
To participate in the study, newborns must be between 0 and 3 days old, born at a healthy gestational age of 37 to 42 weeks, and expected to stay in the NICU for at least five days. Parents must also give their written and verbal consent for their babies to be part of the trial. If a baby is discharged before five days or needs special light treatment (phototherapy), they will not be included in the study. Families involved can expect their baby to receive either almond oil or olive oil during their NICU stay, and the researchers will monitor how these oils affect their baby’s skin. This study is currently looking for participants and aims to provide helpful information about skin care for vulnerable newborns.
