ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into how dry mouth (xerostomia) affects taste in patients with advanced cancer. Many people with cancer experience taste problems and dry mouth, which can make eating and drinking less enjoyable, lead to eating less, and even impact their mood and overall quality of life. The study aims to understand the link between these two issues to help improve care for patients undergoing treatment.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 18 years old and have a diagnosis of advanced cancer. They should be experiencing moderate or more severe dry mouth and taste problems in the last two weeks. Participants need to be able to understand English well. However, those with certain conditions, such as cognitive impairment or previous head and neck surgeries, cannot join. If eligible, participants can expect to share their experiences through questionnaires and discussions that will help researchers learn more about these symptoms and how they affect daily life.
