ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the Multicenter Italian Cohort Study on Tuberculosis in Pediatric Age, is focused on understanding tuberculosis (TB) in children and teenagers. TB is a serious infection that affects millions of people each year, including about 1 million children. However, there is not enough information about how TB impacts young patients because diagnosing it in children can be challenging. This study aims to gather more data on TB in kids by including them in a system that tracks these cases, which is currently lacking.
The trial is open to children and teenagers aged 0 to 18 who either have active TB, have been exposed to TB but are not infected, or have latent TB (which means they have the bacteria but do not feel sick). To participate, parents or guardians need to provide consent, and older teens can give their own permission. There are no specific exclusions, meaning almost any pediatric patient who meets the criteria can join. Participants can expect to contribute valuable information that could help improve our understanding and management of TB in young people, ultimately leading to better care and support for future patients.
