ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the effects of a special exercise program called the Otago Exercise Program (OEP) on older adults who have experienced falls. The study aims to see how this program can help improve pain, walking speed, muscle strength, balance, and overall quality of life. Participants will be randomly placed into one of three groups: one will do the exercises online from home, another will do them in person with a trainer, and the last group will not do the program at all (control group). The exercise sessions will last 45 minutes and occur three times a week for eight weeks.
To join the study, participants must be aged between 65 and 78, able to walk without help, and live independently at home. They should have had at least one fall in the past year. However, people who use walking aids or have certain medical conditions may not be eligible. Throughout the study, participants will be evaluated on their progress at different times to see how the exercise program affects their fear of falling, anxiety levels, and overall health. This trial is important because it explores new ways to help older adults stay active and safe.
