ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different methods for treating a condition called hypoplastic maxilla, which is often seen in patients with cleft lip and palate. The trial will compare a custom-made implant to traditional metal plates (miniplates) to see which method works better for moving the upper jaw forward. This treatment, known as distraction osteogenesis, helps create new bone and expand the surrounding tissue, leading to better long-term results and less chance of the jaw moving back after treatment.
To participate in this trial, individuals need to be between 18 and 30 years old and have a specific type of jaw deficiency related to their cleft condition. The trial is open to both men and women who do not have certain syndromes or diseases affecting their bones. If you qualify, you will receive one of the two treatments and will be monitored by healthcare professionals to track your progress. This trial is important because it aims to improve surgical options for patients with cleft lip and palate, ultimately enhancing their quality of life.
