ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how thyroid dysfunction affects patients who have major psychiatric disorders. Thyroid dysfunction means that the thyroid gland, which helps control many body functions, isn’t working properly. The researchers want to understand if there is a connection between these thyroid issues and mental health problems in patients who are admitted to the psychiatric unit at Assiut University Hospital in Egypt.
If you or a family member have a major psychiatric disorder and are being treated at this hospital, you may be eligible to participate in the study. However, pregnant or breastfeeding women, those on certain hormone therapies, and patients taking specific medications for epilepsy will not be included in the trial. Participants can expect to undergo assessments related to their thyroid function and mental health. This study is still in the planning stage and has not yet started recruiting participants, so stay tuned for more information if you are interested!
