ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Heat Waves and the Elderly With COPD," is looking at how older adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) respond to high temperatures. The study aims to understand how these individuals manage their body temperature during heat waves, which can be particularly challenging for those with respiratory issues like COPD.
To participate in this study, you need to be 65 years or older and have a diagnosis of COPD. However, if you have heart disease or other serious health conditions such as cancer, diabetes, or uncontrolled high blood pressure, you won't be eligible. Current smokers and those with a high body weight (a body mass index of 31 or more) are also excluded. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo some tests and monitoring related to how your body reacts to heat. This research is important as it can help develop better care strategies to protect older adults with COPD during extreme heat conditions.
