ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how swallowing and throat discomfort are affected in patients with goiter or those who have undergone thyroid surgery (thyroidectomy). The main goal is to create a simple questionnaire that can help doctors and researchers measure these symptoms effectively. By understanding how patients feel before and after surgery, the team hopes to improve care and support for individuals dealing with these conditions. Additionally, the study will look at the emotional effects of having goiter or undergoing surgery, as well as how the surgical scar appears afterward.

If you are between the ages of 65 and 74 and have been diagnosed with goiter or have had thyroid surgery, you might be eligible to participate. The study is currently recruiting participants, and those who join can expect to be interviewed to help develop the questionnaire. Later, they will complete the questionnaire both before and after their surgery. It’s important to note that individuals with certain neurological disorders or prior neck surgeries may not qualify for this study. This research aims to provide valuable insights that can lead to better treatment options for patients like you.
