ClinConnect Summary
The "Safer Aging With Diabetes Monitoring" clinical trial is studying a new way to help older adults with type 2 diabetes who are at risk of having dangerously low blood sugar levels, a condition known as hypoglycemia. This trial aims to test a safer method of prescribing insulin by educating patients and using continuous glucose monitoring, which tracks blood sugar levels in real time. If successful, this approach could help reduce the number of severe hypoglycemia episodes in older adults, improving their overall health and safety.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be 75 years or older, have type 2 diabetes, currently use insulin, and have experienced low blood sugar in the past year. They also need to be comfortable communicating in English and have access to email and the Internet. Throughout the trial, participants can expect to receive education and support related to their insulin treatment and blood sugar monitoring. This trial is currently recruiting and aims to make a positive impact on the lives of older adults managing diabetes.
