ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how different settings on a ventilator can affect patient outcomes during and after surgery. The ventilator helps patients breathe while they are under general anesthesia, but it can sometimes cause complications. The goal of the trial is to find the best combinations of ventilator settings, using specific mathematical measurements, to improve how patients breathe and recover after surgery.

To participate in this study, you need to be an adult who has had surgery under general anesthesia with a type of ventilation called Intermittent Positive Pressure Ventilation at the UMCG hospital between January 1, 2018, and April 1, 2023. Unfortunately, younger patients (under 18 years) or those who did not use this type of ventilation during their surgery cannot take part. Since the trial is still in the planning stages, no participants are being recruited yet. If you qualify, the researchers will analyze past cases to see how different ventilator settings affected patients' health, helping to shape future studies and improve patient care.
