ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new test called the Functional Six-minute Mastication Test (F-6MMT), which aims to evaluate how well people can chew and how tired their jaw muscles get while chewing. The test is particularly focused on individuals with Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD), which can cause pain in the jaw and difficulty with chewing. Currently, there aren’t reliable methods to measure chewing ability and fatigue in these patients, and this study aims to fill that gap by providing a standardized way to assess these issues.
To participate in the trial, candidates must be adults, both men and women, who sometimes experience jaw pain or fatigue while eating, regardless of whether they have been diagnosed with TMD. However, individuals who have had recent dental work or certain treatments that affect the jaw region won't be eligible. Those who join the study can expect to take the F-6MMT, which will help researchers understand chewing function better and potentially improve care for people with TMD. The trial is still in the planning stages and has not started recruiting participants yet.
