ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether adding sensorimotor training—activities that help improve coordination and movement—can help people recover better after surgery for a wrist fracture. Specifically, they are looking at patients who have had a distal radius fracture and received a specific type of surgery called volar plate fixation. The trial will compare two groups: one group will receive regular hand therapy, while the other group will receive both regular therapy and sensorimotor activities. Researchers will measure things like how well the wrist moves, how much pain participants feel, and how well they can use their hands at 3 and 6 weeks after starting therapy.
To join the study, participants need to be at least 18 years old, speak English, and be able to attend therapy sessions at least once a week. However, those who have had previous surgery on the same wrist, have cognitive issues, or have not had surgery for their fracture will not be eligible. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to help improve recovery for people with wrist fractures by testing a new approach to therapy.
