ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how the placebo effect can influence feelings of fatigue in people with obesity. Fatigue is a common issue for those who are obese and can affect how well they feel and how they go about their daily lives. The study aims to understand if using a placebo—a treatment that doesn’t have any active ingredients but can still make people feel better—can help reduce feelings of tiredness. Researchers believe that how we think about our fatigue can change our experience of it, and they want to explore this idea further.
To participate in the trial, individuals must be right-handed and have a diagnosis of obesity, meaning their body mass index (BMI) is 30 or higher. However, those with certain neurological or psychiatric disorders won’t be eligible. Participants can expect to be part of a study that investigates how mental and physical factors work together to impact fatigue, and they may experience changes in their feelings of tiredness and energy levels. The trial is currently recruiting participants aged between 18 and 65, regardless of gender.
