ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a technique called "jaw thrust" might help doctors in training perform a specific procedure called fiberoptic orotracheal intubation in children more quickly and successfully. Intubation is when a tube is placed in the airway to help a patient breathe during surgery. The researchers want to see if using the jaw thrust maneuver makes it easier for residents—who are doctors still in training—to do this safely and efficiently.
To participate in this study, children must be over 1 year old and scheduled for elective surgery that requires general anesthesia. They should be generally healthy, meaning they are classified as American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I or II. However, children with certain conditions, such as those who may have difficulty being intubated or those with serious heart or lung problems, cannot take part in this trial. If your child is eligible and you agree to participate, you can expect to help contribute to important research that may improve medical training and patient care for children in the future.
