ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a treatment called stellate ganglion block (SGB) to help protect a special type of blood vessel connection, known as an arteriovenous fistula, in patients who are on hemodialysis and need major surgery on their lower limbs. The trial aims to see if this procedure can make a difference in preserving this important connection during surgery, which is crucial for patients who rely on hemodialysis for kidney function.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between 21 and 75 years old and must have chronic kidney failure. They should also be preparing for significant orthopedic surgery on their lower body. Certain health conditions, such as psychiatric disorders or issues with blood clotting, may prevent someone from participating. If you join this study, you can expect to receive the SGB treatment before your surgery and be monitored throughout the process to see how it impacts the health of your fistula. This trial is currently recruiting participants, so if you or someone you know fits the criteria, it could be a great opportunity to contribute to important research.
