ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how a day of sitting a lot affects our muscles and how they respond to exercise. Researchers want to understand if being inactive for a day impacts the way our bodies burn fat and carbohydrates during and after exercise. They will do this by having participants either sit for a day (taking fewer than 5,000 steps) or stay active (taking more than 8,500 steps) before they come in to bike for an hour. They will take blood samples and muscle tissue before and after the exercise to see how inactivity influences the body’s response.

To participate, individuals should be between 65 and 74 years old and in good health, meaning they have no serious illnesses, do not smoke, and are not currently in a structured exercise program. Participants should also have no orthopedic issues that would limit their ability to exercise. This study is important because it could help improve exercise guidelines, which can reduce the risk of heart and metabolic diseases. If you qualify and decide to participate, you'll be contributing to valuable research that aims to better understand the relationship between inactivity and exercise.
