ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of a treatment called dextrose prolotherapy for people with arthritis in the knee. Dextrose prolotherapy involves injecting a sugar solution (25% hypertonic glucose) into the joint to see if it can help relieve pain and improve joint function. Researchers want to understand how this treatment works, especially since some studies suggest it can have both positive effects and some potential negative effects on cells in the joint. They will look at changes in pain levels and the joint's response to treatment over a few months, using samples from the joint to analyze how the glucose solution affects different types of cells.
To participate in this study, you should be an adult man or woman with arthritis and willing to sign a consent form. However, pregnant or nursing women, those with infected joints, or individuals who have had joint surgery recently are not eligible. If you join the trial, you can expect to have your pain and joint health assessed before the treatment, one month after, and three months later. The goal is to gain a better understanding of how this injection therapy can be used more effectively for treating joint issues related to arthritis.
