ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a program called the "5E" program, which aims to prevent a serious condition known as venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients with spinal cord disorders. VTE can lead to blood clots that may cause serious health issues. The trial will compare patients who receive the 5E program with those who receive standard care to see if the program can lower the rates of VTE, reduce the signs and symptoms of this condition, and change the size of their thighs and calves over time.
To be eligible for the study, participants need to be between 65 and 74 years old, able to communicate in Thai, and willing to take part. They should also have certain risk factors for VTE, which will be assessed using a scoring system. Participants in the 5E program will receive education about preventing VTE, be advised to elevate their legs, do specific ankle exercises, stay hydrated, and use a special device for better blood flow shortly after being admitted to the hospital. If you're interested in this study, it's important to know that those with certain medical complications or who are pregnant cannot participate.
