ClinConnect Summary
The COMPASS Across Settings (CAST) trial is focused on improving the skills of autistic youth as they transition from school to adult life. The goal of this project is to help students set and achieve their personal goals by providing support not just to the students, but also to their families and educators. Despite laws requiring schools to help students with disabilities prepare for life after school, many autistic students still struggle to achieve positive outcomes. This trial aims to combine different proven methods of support and coaching to ensure everyone involved—students, caregivers, teachers, and job specialists—works together effectively.
To participate in this trial, students must have a confirmed autism diagnosis and an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that includes autism services. Caregivers, special education teachers, and pre-employment specialists who work with these students can also be involved. Participants can expect to engage in activities that encourage collaboration and goal setting across home, school, and community settings. It’s important to note that individuals who are considering changing their job or moving during the school year are not eligible to participate. This trial is currently recruiting participants of all genders, ages ranging from 5 to 36 years old.
