ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Residual Adrenal Function in Addison's Disease," is looking at a specific substance in the body called 11-deoxycortisol to help understand how well the adrenal glands are functioning in people with Addison's disease, which is a condition where the body doesn't produce enough hormones due to damaged adrenal glands. The researchers want to see if measuring levels of 11-deoxycortisol can serve as a reliable indicator of how much adrenal function remains in patients with this condition.
If you have autoimmune Addison's disease and can give your informed consent, you may be eligible to participate in this study. The trial is open to adults aged 65 to 74. Participants will have their 11-deoxycortisol levels tested, which is a simple process. It's important to note that if you are currently taking medications that affect your immune system or steroids other than hydrocortisone or cortisone acetate, you may not qualify for this study. If you decide to participate, you’ll be contributing to important research that could help improve our understanding of Addison's disease and how to manage it better.
