ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying whether providing video education at the time of discharge from the hospital can help new mothers better understand the warning signs of serious health issues that can occur after giving birth. These issues include excessive bleeding, infection, and high blood pressure. The trial is specifically focusing on postpartum individuals who identify as Black, Latinx, or belong to other racial groups, as well as those who are on Medicaid or are uninsured. Participants will be divided into two groups: one will receive written information along with the video, while the other will only receive the usual written information.
To participate, you need to be over 18 years old, speak either English or Spanish, and have given birth at a specific hospital (WCM). If you’re interested, you’ll fill out a questionnaire before and after the education sessions to see if your understanding of these serious conditions has improved. This trial is important because improving knowledge about postpartum health can empower new mothers to recognize potential problems early and seek help if needed.
