ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different surgical techniques used after removing rectal cancer: end to end anastomosis and side to end anastomosis. The goal is to see which method leads to better bowel function and quality of life after surgery. Researchers will look at factors like how often patients need to use the bathroom, how urgent those needs are, and any issues with incontinence. They will also track surgical details, including how long the surgery takes and how long patients stay in the hospital.
To participate, individuals should be between 18 and 80 years old and have had either laparoscopic (minimally invasive) or open surgery for rectal cancer. However, those with certain conditions, such as other types of colorectal cancer or those who have had previous rectal surgeries, may not qualify. Participants can expect to be monitored closely throughout the study to gather valuable information that could help improve surgical outcomes for future patients.
