ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a new device called the NGPOD, which helps healthcare providers quickly and easily check if a feeding tube is correctly placed in the stomach of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). When patients can't eat normally due to health issues, doctors often use a nasogastric or orogastric tube to provide nutrition. However, sometimes these tubes can be placed incorrectly, which can lead to serious problems. The NGPOD device offers a fast way to ensure the tube is in the right spot, providing a simple green or red signal to indicate correct or incorrect placement, compared to the traditional method of using X-rays.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and currently hospitalized in the ICU with a feeding tube that was not previously checked by X-ray. You should also be able to give consent to join the study. If you have certain medical conditions or are not able to make decisions for yourself, you may not be eligible. If you decide to participate, you can expect a straightforward, quick test using the NGPOD device to help ensure your feeding tube is safely positioned, potentially improving your care during your hospital stay.
