ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a surgical procedure called laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which is used to remove the gallbladder, and whether it can also be safely combined with repairing umbilical hernias. An umbilical hernia is a condition where part of the intestine pushes through the abdominal wall near the belly button, and it often occurs in people with gallbladder issues. The goal of the trial is to see if doing both surgeries at the same time is a good option for patients who have both conditions.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be any age and any gender, but they should have chronic calcular cholecystitis, which is a long-term inflammation of the gallbladder caused by gallstones, along with a para-umbilical hernia. However, people with certain health problems, like severe lung or heart issues, or those with a strangulated hernia (where the tissue is trapped and can’t be pushed back in) will not be eligible. This trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it is an important study that could help improve the way these common abdominal conditions are treated together.
