ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking into a condition called postoperative delirium (POD), which can occur after surgery and involves confusion and changes in mental state. The study is being conducted in the Post-anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), where patients are monitored after their surgery. Researchers want to understand how often POD happens in this setting and what factors might contribute to it. They will also collect blood samples from some participants to learn more about the biological processes behind this condition.
To join the study, participants need to be at least 18 years old and choose to take part voluntarily. They should have a medical classification of I-IV, which indicates that they are generally healthy to moderately ill. However, individuals with severe medical issues, significant mental health problems, or those who cannot communicate effectively will not be eligible. If you decide to participate, you can expect to be monitored closely during your recovery, and your experiences may help improve the care of future patients at risk for postoperative delirium.
