ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying new ways to help Airmen in the U.S. Air Force reduce their risky drinking behaviors, particularly binge drinking. Binge drinking can lead to serious health and legal issues, especially in the military where there is a strict zero-tolerance policy for alcohol-related incidents. The researchers want to see if sending timely text messages along with a current program that helps reduce alcohol misuse can make a difference. They will compare the usual program to the program plus text messages that remind Airmen about responsible drinking during times when they typically have access to alcohol.
To participate in this study, individuals must be 18 years or older and enrolled in specific training programs at the Air Force. They also need to understand English and be able to receive text messages. Participants can expect to be randomly assigned to either the standard program or the new program with text messages. Researchers will collect anonymous information to see how well these strategies work to help Airmen manage their drinking habits, with follow-up surveys conducted at the end of their training and six months later. This study aims to provide valuable insights into effective ways to promote healthier drinking habits within the military.
