ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to improve communication for patients undergoing fecal ostomy surgery, which is a procedure that creates an opening in the abdomen for waste to exit the body. The goal is to understand how well this communication method works and how it can meet the needs of patients, especially older adults who may have different recovery challenges. The researchers will include 24 patients and 4 healthcare professionals, and they plan to gather feedback through questionnaires at the beginning of the study and again four weeks later.
To be eligible for the trial, participants must be at least 18 years old, fluent in English, and scheduled for elective fecal ostomy surgery. However, those who are unable to provide informed consent due to severe health issues or who have been deemed inappropriate by the surgery team will not be able to participate. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it offers a chance for those involved to contribute to improving care and communication for future patients facing similar surgeries.
